I bought my Carrera Furnace 2 from Halfords about a year ago and it was set up perfectly apart from a slightly rubbing front disc pad which took me about 5 minutes to put right. The gearing range of 36/11 for on the flat right down to 22/36 on the steepest of hills is great for a 71 year old like me with worn out knees. The spec of the components is amazing for the price and I can’t understand why Halfords don’t seem to be selling it any more. The frame isn’t up to big leaps and really rocky trails as a label on the handlebars tells you, but for gentler off-road trails it’s brilliant. I looked at other bikes from RaceCo etc. but for the components that are specced in this bike nobody else could come close to the price. Cheap grips, plastic pedals, yes, but they’re the only cheap things about the Furnace 2.
Hey Robin I also purchased the Furnace 2 last September also from Halfords and mine was also set up perfectly , It was a toss up between the Vendetta but its specs were not as good as the Furnace 2 Im pleased to say ive not had a single issue with the bike its still a smooth ride gears change superbly iam really pleased with it even one year on
