Jamis Dakar XAM II ’09: Ultimate Trail-TamerMountain trails vary from loose-over-hard fireroads to rock gardens that look more like Martian terrain to winding rut-ridden singletrack where your bike seems to point everywhere but straight. The XAM II feels at home in all those conditions–absolutely. It is, by its very design, an all-conditions bike falling somewhere between the all-mountain XC bikes and the tank-like downhill rigs. The wide Kenda 2.3 tires are like velcro to the ground it touches so loose-over-hard terrain might as well be asphalt. The teaming of Fox’s 36mm Talas and DHX 5.0 reduces rock gardens into mere pebble patches.

And the super strong and super stiff 7005 aluminum frame will not bend to any winding singletrack demands. The XAM II is a value that’s very hard to beat too. Compare what you get with the XAM II versus other bikes in the same category and price range. You won’t find low-end componentry or the misleading “house branded” parts mix in the XAM II. And to top it all off–Crank Brother’s Joplin seatpost and TruVativ’s Hammerschmidt come standard!
